The canoe trail Lower Hedströmmen in the Bergslagen region
In Bernshammar, follow a nice stretch of water for several kilometers until the rivers Hedströmmen and Gunnilboån join. The two rivers flow together at the village, Gisslarbo. The canoe trail from Gisslarbo, up until the river end in Mälaren, is called Lower Hedströmmen. South of Kolsva, there are a few small, shallow rapids when the water level is low. A recommended finishing point is at the small boat harbor on Malmön, at the river mouth in Mälaren. An alternative is to continue the 6 remaining kilometers to Köping and finish the trip in the harbor. Food supplies are available in Kolsva. There is no maintenance along the canoe trail.

The paddler is a guest in the nature and is required to demonstrate responsibility and care. Not to harm and not to destroy. We have the right to enjoy Swedish nature, but there is also a duty to behave responsibly. The paddler’s only trace should be the whirlpools from the paddles.
