The canoe trail Garhyttean / Northern Arbogaan in the Bergslagen region in Sweden

The canoe trail from Kopparberg to Malaren flows along the same river. The river changes the name along its course and there are separate canoe trail descriptions for the different stretches.

Garhyttean / Northern Arbogaan flows between Kopparberg and Lindesberg. The recommendation is to start the canoeing at Lillang (North of Norrsjon). The stretch north of Lillang is not good for canoeing. After Norrsjon, the river changes name to Storan. Storan ends in the lake, Rasvalen. The next name change, to Bottenan, take place along the river stretch from Rasvalen to Lindesberg. Bottenan is a deep river where even boats can pass. Garhyttean / Northern Arbogaan offers a variety in its paddling as well some charming samples of Swedish culture, e.g. the small museums in Kopparberg and Loa Hytta.

Trackless Excursions

The paddler is a guest in the nature and is required to demonstrate responsibility and care. Not to harm and not to destroy. We have the right to enjoy Swedish nature, but there is also a duty to behave responsibly. The paddler’s only trace should be the whirlpools from the paddles.
