Nordic Discovery receive students on internship between 20th of April and 20th of October. Trainees on the internship program will follow the daily work and work together with the staff at Nordic Discovery and learn about Swedish adventure, outdoor and ecotourism. The trainee then gains practical knowledge as well as on-the-job instruction from the ordinary staff. The internship is for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with subsidized accommodation (100 SEK/night) the first 10 days and free accommodation after 10 days. The accommodation is with self-catering. Internship certificate will be provided, and there is a chance of future employment if the trainee proves to be suitable.

The internship work is very varied as the spectra of outdoor activities Nordic Discovery offer is broad. We work on a daily basis after bookings. The different bookings each day will affect what we will be doing to make each booking happen. There are also booking administration, marketing, accounting and maintenance work besides the daily running of Nordic Discovery's Adventure Center, Wilderness Lodge , Wilderness Cottage, River Lodge and the Wilderness Camping.
Internship - Working experience, overall working tasks
Arrangement of active outdoor experiences after bookings. The daily work is primarily to make each booking happen. Preparation, implementation and after work.
Daily operation and maintenance of Nordic Discovery’s Adventure Center, Wilderness Lodge, Wilderness Cottage, River Lodge and the Wilderness Camping.
Booking administration, general administration, marketing and accounting.

The goal with the internship is to let the student a chance practice learned skills at school and at Nordic Discovery’s Adventure center in reality during the internship period.
Summarized goal: That the trainee on internship should evolve and learn as much as possible about the tourist trade on the spot. To participate on the internship is a good way to learn in general, but it is also good way to learn for future progress at Nordic Discovery (The company is growing and will need trained persons for a variation of tasks in future).
Common tasks and goal, 1: That the trainee acquires competence in reception, taking up bookings, information and provision of outdoor equipment to small groups on self-guided tours.
Common tasks and goal, 2: That the trainee reaches the level of competence to do canoe transports and transfers and to do transfers to and from train stations and airports.
Common tasks and goal, 3: That the trainee reaches the level of competence to assist and work as a second guide on guided tours and events.
Goal on longer internships, 4: That the trainee reaches the competence and development to function as the first guide on guided tours. The goal is not referring to the safari tours which needs years of training and experience. This goal is depending on competes, training and bookings. In case of no desire in the guiding goal, there are also booking administration and marketing fields to concentrate the development and training in. We are open to hear about your desire.
Due to individual differences interns will reach different levels on the scale of goals.

Trainees applying for internship at Nordic Discovery's Adventure Center, should have a genuine interest in outdoor activities and nature. As the Adventure Center is located in the middle of the forest, and driving is a part of the work, a driving license is a requirement on longer internship periods.
When selecting trainees there is an advance to apply for longer internship periods, as trainees with longer training, will learn more and be able to accomplish more advanced task with more training.

Trabajo voluntario en Suecia
The idea with the volunteer agreement is to give the volunteer a chance to stay and learn about Sweden and get the opportunity to do a lot of outdoor activities in return for work. The volunteer work program is between 1 day and 6 months and is based on benefits which increase on a time scale. The program starts with accommodation in self-catering cottage and access to outdoor equipment and ends with all living costs included and paid travel expenses. No experience needed.
Volunteer workers staying for more than 2 weeks will receive a written documentation of their stay, with the CEO of Nordic Discovery as a reference person. Something which has proved to be very appreciated by employers due to the fact that the document prove the volunteer worker’s guts and ambition to travel to an another country and help out and learn with other priorities than earning a salary. The document has proved to be crucial to young volunteers applying for their first job.

Volunteers applying for the volunteer program should have an interest in outdoor activities and nature. It is an advantage if you have a driving license.

Differences between the internship and the volunteer programs
The internship program is the best if you want to learn as much as possible about the trade, active nature tourism. In the internship program Nordic Discovery will invest time in teaching while the work is proceeding. As Nordic Discovery will invest time in teaching you will organize your own food and pay a discounted fee for accommodation. The program is regarded as education by learning the trade by working on the spot.
The voluntary work program is based on work and the volunteer workers will work of their expenses (food and accommodation) during their stay.
Working holiday
Provides the possibility for professionally-skilled craftsmen (there is ongoing refurbishment works in 3 buildings) to combine holidays with work. The idea with the working holiday agreement is to give the person on working holiday the possibility of having a holiday without having to spend money. Accommodation in self-catering cottage or board and accommodation (depending on the agreed hours of work). Positions available for carpenters and plumbers.
Employment
Applicants must have: Suitable tourism education, a passion for outdoor activities, a genuine will to give our clients the best experience possible and a driver’s license. There is the possibility of discounted accommodation in a self-catering cottage.
